39 Weeks..and counting

Oh the anticpation!
The doctor said I am dilated to a two but no more effacement. So we had some more progress.

First thought when I opened this page was, Oh my, only 5 days left. I remember when the baby ticker said 239 days left. Seemed like eternity. Now it is here and it seems like 5 days is an eternity.

I have a gut feeling she will be late. And that will make the anticipation even greater. I do know that she will be worth every minute of this pregnancy.

I keep saying my prayers that she is healthy and everything is going to be great with delivery.

I think we may have decided on a name, Dalyla Skye. Hopefully you look like one. :)

38 weeks

I am now 38 weeks along and just went the dr. He said that I am dilated to a 1 1/2 but same effacement, 80%. Not much progression this week.
I'm a bit bummed because I want to meet her so bad. I have to keep reminding myself that I guess she needs all the time she can get....but it's getting hard.

Work is getting harder too. Sitting for 8 hours a day is just impossible. Between the tailbone, rib jabs and bathroom breaks..it makes for a long day.

The things I have most enoyed about being pregnant:
Movement of course. In the beginning it was just slight and sometimes I would just keep pushing and jabbing my stomach to get her to move. But other times I could feel an entire body roll. Now it is pushing and dominant kicking. I love the hiccups too.
The body changes. I know that I have a few scars and pounds that I will never get rid of, but how amazing are our bodies to be able to accomodate a basketball or larger sized uterus and baby? It's amazing to me that all of our organs can move, and our bellies can stretch like this.
The ability to be pregnant. I always thought that I would get pregnant but never realized what a gift it would be. So many people do not get to enjoy the feeling and it is so amazing to be able to.
Positive attention. Some people are so sweet and give such nice gestures when you are pregnant. Whether it is opening a door, smiling at you, or just giving you that acknowledgement, it is a great feeling in a world that is so busy. I was even offered a ride back to my car in a golf cart at SLCC for Trish's graduation.
Excuses :). Ok I haven't used it much. But the excuse of being tired and pregnant really helps when you don't want to go somewhere. :) and sad but true, I have used it as an excuse to not eat so well. I maintain my fruits and veggies, but I also endulge in too much sugar and ice cream. Man do I have some work ahead of me.
Baby shopping/shower. All of the baby gifts, clothes, nick-nacks, and furniture has been fun to put together, wash, and admire.
Room Remodel. It was so nice to have some quality time with my mom and have her help with the room. Plus it was nice to have my husband and I do something together. It didn't involve what was best for us, it was what was best for the future of the baby.
Picking out a name. Ok so this part hasn't been as easy as I thought it would be. Every girl thinks they know what they want their little girl to be named, but then when you start thinking about the childs future, nicknames, and things they could be teased about, everything changes. Not to mention..involving the husband. Men just don't think about creative girl names. Hopefully by the time she is born we will have settled on a name. So far I keep wanting Courtney Skye. I do however have a list of names that we will be bringing to the hospital. I do know now not to give criticism to women who are trying to name their child..it is frustrating.

Oh I can't wait to touch her little feet and fingers and admire this child that is a part of me and Robert. I can't wait to see what color of eyes she has or how much hair she will have. I can't wait to feel her skin and have that special bond.
I know that she will be healthy and beautiful, and with any luck she will have brains and patience like her dad. :)
